Easy Smoothie Recipe (for women)

Today I have a treat for you ladies (sorry gents)! This smoothie was so tasty and quick:)

Smoothies are my favorite because they’re the best way to get in your greens (with the fiber) earlier rather than later. The sooner you eat leafy greens the better your energy and digestion is going to be.

Plus:

They are quick and perfect for on the go!

If you’re not making green smoothies… you gotta give them a try. You can see what blender we use and ones we’ve tried HERE.

So I must say, lately I’ve been eating my smoothies with a spoon… which makes it more like a smoothie bowl. I like this because I usually need more food than just a smoothie and I like to feel like I’m actually eating something; so pretty much smoothie bowls are the answer.

I think the best part is that you can top them with anything (fruit, nuts, seeds, granola, oats, cereal)!

This smoothie is topped with Heart & Seed Granola, which is made specifically for women, and helps balance hormones (genius!) – which I am totally getting into at the moment and learning more about the effects of stress on ones health… yikes more on that another time;)

This is Tatiana’s Detox variety:

“Hello Detox is loaded with detoxifying ingredients, this “feel-good” blend is an ultimate weapon for wellness warriors!

Raw beets, spirulina, carrots, ginger, dandelion root, fenugreek, milk thistle and psyllium husks help your body improve bowel function and aid in liver detox “

If you like the standard sugary granola, this isn’t for you, as it’s only slightly sweet. But you feel so good after eating it because you’re happy it’s not full of sugar!

Easy Smoothie Recipe (for women)

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 leaves of chard
  • 1 1/2 cups of frozen berries
  • 1 Tbsp. Sun Warrior vanilla protein powder (any protein powder will work… I actually don’t care for the taste of SW)
  • 1 Tbsp. flax meal
  • 1 frozen banana (peel removed and placed in the freezer for 2-4 hours or overnight)
  • 3/4 -1 cup water (will depend, use less first)
  • Toppings: Hello Detox Granola, 2 Tbsp. dried coconut flakes, 2 Tbsp. cacao nibs

Directions:

In a high speed blender place leafy greens, then protein powder, then flax, then berries, then water and give it a good blend. When leafs are all blended up add the frozen banana (I do this at the end because it gives it a more frothy texture) and blend. Pour smoothie into a jar or a bowl and add desired toppings.

Eat with a spoon and smile:)

Give this a try and let me know what you think! I also really love the Mint Green Smoothie Bowl from The Seasonal Diet (located in the Smoothies, Bowls & Tonics Section).

This is where I ate the smoothie….

Thanks for sharing the smoothie recipe which I’m going to make up this morning (but only have Kale, so will sub with that). Couple of questions for you! What IS your favorite tasting protein powder? Do have thoughts on Whey vs. Soy?

    • Sarah O'Toole

      Hey Janis!
You my dear are so welcome:) kale will work perfectly! I am going to be honest…I am the pickiest protein powder person!!! Here are some of the ones I have tried…
1)Sunwarrior- Good price, clean ingredients, weird flavor..not bad but not good
      2) Vega- Good Price, Delicious…does have a little stevia flavor but contains green powders that are not organic
      3) Nutivia Hemp protein- Clean. Awesome price . not much flavor. heavy.
      4) Beaming BBar protein powder- Clean. Great taste. Expensive. And they use coconut sugar which I love but not in my protein powder..
So Pretty much I don’t really use protein powders, I like to add hemp seeds or sprouted almonds to my smoothies if I need a boost.
As for my thoughts on Whey VS Soy….it depends on what you are talking about. But I don’t do whey because it contains dairy and I don’t think humans need dairy to be healthy. As for soy I do eat soy on occasion but I don’t like it in my smoothies because I drink smoothies a lot and I don’t want to much soy in my system. Everyone is a little different so what is best for my might not be best for you..:) Hope that helps!!!

That granola sounds dreamy! Also, I love the idea of a smoothie bowl. I didn’t really know they existed until I got The Seasonal Diet. I’ve only had a couple. Excited to try this one once I get my hands on that gorgeous granola.

Am I missing something, just found this site (love it btw) but, can’t find the cake recipe. Do I need to search for a certain “cake name” (maybe why I can’t find it lol).
Thanks for all the tips, etc.
