Cocoa Peppermint Smoothie

I’ve been loving this smoothie so much!

I was going to put it in our Winter Recipe Bundle but Peter also created a smoothie for it, so I thought I’d share this recipe today on the blog for all to See, Make & Enjoy!

But first I wanted to take a quick second and talk about Peppermint Oil!

Peppermint Essential Oil

This has been a lifesaver when trying to cut back on sugar since the holidays.

I think we may have overdone it with vegan cookies & dark chocolate!

My Favorite Use: adding 1-2 drops to my glass water bottle after meals. It keeps me from wanting something sweet after I eat and it gives me minty fresh breath… similar to chewing gum (but healthier).

Peter’s Favorite Use: alertness, he likes to diffuse it when he wants to concentrate when working

Other Uses: nausea, ulcers, migraines, motion sickness and so much more.

For the smoothie we used dõTERRA Peppermint oil but feel free to use whatever brand you have (just make sure it’s safe for consumption).

And lastly, if you don’t have Peppermint oil, fresh mint will work but it won’t have that super crisp mint flavor… like a candy cane!

Serves: 1 large smoothie
  • ½-1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup non-dairy milk (almond or hemp)
  • 1-2 handfuls of spinach
  • 2 Tbsp. dried coconut flakes
  • 2 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 3 Tbsp. cacao powder
  1. Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Serve right away.

      This recipe looks yummy! I always like to add a bunch of spinach in my smoothies as well. By the way, I loved the pumpkin spice smoothie recipe that you sent with the fall bundle. Since then, it’s still one of my favorites!

      My favorite smoothie… hmmm.. maybe chocolate-cherry with the addition of cinnamon. I always add cinnamon to my shakes and smoothies!

      I change my answer! I made this smoothie but used vegan chocolate Shakeology instead of the protein powder plus cacao (those are in the ShakeO plus a whole lot more). OMGOSH so yummy! And my kid drank one! (I didn’t tell her about the spinach–MUAHAHAHAHAHA)
